Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our services
What drilling equipment can be delivered by cargo aircraft to isolated sites?
We transport all critical components of a drilling rig: mud pumps, drill bits, Christmas trees, casings, drill pipes, wellheads, downhole motors, and MWD/LWD systems. Parts weighing 2 to 25 tons are transported on suitable cargo aircraft — from Lockheed C-130 for unpaved airstrips to Boeing 747F for regional hubs.
How do you deliver drilling equipment to the middle of the Sahara or Siberia?
For sites without airport infrastructure, we use cargo aircraft capable of operating on dirt or gravel runways (AN-12, C-130, AN-26). Equipment is then transferred by secured ground convoy to the derrick. In Siberia, we favor airports such as Noyabrsk or Nizhnevartovsk with road transfer on winter roads. In the Sahara, oil bases at Hassi Messaoud or In Amenas have operational airstrips.
What is the time saving compared to ground or maritime transport?
On a Europe → Algerian Sahara route, dedicated air freight reduces the lead time from 3-4 weeks (maritime + ground) to 24-48 hours. For Western Siberia, the savings are similar: 48 hours versus 6 to 8 weeks by overland transport. With each day of lost drilling (rig downtime) costing between $50,000 and $300,000, the air freight premium is quickly recouped.
