Everything you need to know about humanitarian cargo charter

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our services

01

How quickly can you deploy a humanitarian cargo charter?

Our emergency response protocol enables deployment within 12-24 hours of request confirmation. For pre-positioned aircraft near the crisis zone, we can achieve takeoff within 6 hours. We maintain standing agreements with UNHRD (United Nations Humanitarian Response Depots) in Brindisi, Dubai, Accra, Kuala Lumpur, and Panama for rapid cargo collection and immediate loading. When a flash appeal is issued by OCHA or a CERF (Central Emergency Response Fund) allocation is confirmed, we can begin aircraft mobilization in parallel with funding confirmation.

02

Can your cargo aircraft operate on short or unpaved runways?

Yes, our fleet includes turboprop aircraft (C-130, ATR 72F, Dash 8) and STOL-capable freighters that can operate on unpaved, grass, or gravel runways as short as 800 meters — provided the runway surface meets minimum CBR (California Bearing Ratio) thresholds for the aircraft type. This is critical for reaching disaster zones where main airports are damaged or inaccessible. We verify NOTAMs and coordinate with OSOCC (On-Site Operations Coordination Centre) for airfield status updates. When civilian infrastructure is compromised, we also coordinate with military airfields under CIMIC (civil-military coordination) protocols.

03

What types of humanitarian cargo do you transport?

We deliver emergency shelter kits, WASH (Water Sanitation Hygiene) equipment including water purification units and latrine systems, NFIs (Non-Food Items) such as blankets, hygiene kits and cooking sets, medical supplies and field hospitals, food rations, generators, communications equipment, and search and rescue gear. All kits are prepared in line with Sphere Standards for minimum humanitarian response quality. We also transport ERU (Emergency Response Unit) modules for Red Cross/Red Crescent deployment and humanitarian personnel when passenger seats are configured alongside cargo. For medical shipments, we maintain cold chain capability for vaccines and blood products.

04

Do you work with international organizations like the UN, Red Cross, and MSF?

Yes, we have established working relationships with the United Nations (WFP, UNHCR, UNICEF), CERF-funded operations, ECHO (European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations), the International Red Cross/Red Crescent and their ERU deployments, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), CARE International, and numerous other NGOs. We understand their procurement procedures, documentation requirements, and operational protocols — including the principles of humanitarian space (neutrality, impartiality, independence). We also accept UN or government-backed funding arrangements and support flash appeal logistics coordination.

05

How is humanitarian cargo charter priced?

We offer transparent, cost-conscious pricing for humanitarian operations. Rates depend on route, aircraft type, and urgency. For major disasters, we can offer reduced rates or cost-recovery pricing in partnership with established NGOs. We also support donor-funded charters — including CERF allocations and ECHO-financed operations — where a government or foundation covers transport costs. Typical humanitarian flights range from €25,000 to €200,000 depending on distance and payload.
