Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our services
How is the +2/+8°C cold chain maintained for cut flowers during the cargo flight?
Flowers are pre-cooled in cold storage at the farm before packaging in ventilated cartons placed on ULD pallets. The cargo aircraft maintains a hold temperature of +2°C to +8°C throughout the flight. Data loggers continuously record temperatures, and residual ethylene monitoring is performed to prevent premature bud maturation.
What certificates are required to import cut flowers from Kenya to Europe?
Importing cut flowers requires a phytosanitary certificate issued by KEPHIS (Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service) attesting the absence of regulated pests. Upon arrival in Europe, the consignment passes through a Designated Point of Entry (DPE) where plant protection services carry out documentary and physical inspections. A certificate of origin and commercial invoice complete the customs file.
What volume of cut flowers can a cargo charter transport?
A cargo aircraft such as a Boeing 737F can transport between 15 and 20 tonnes of cut flowers, approximately 150,000 to 200,000 rose stems. For seasonal peaks (Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day), we organise daily rotations from Nairobi or Bogota with widebody aircraft capable of carrying up to 80 tonnes of floral freight per flight.
