Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our services
What CITES permits are required for transporting endangered zoo animals by cargo aircraft?
Any transport of CITES-listed species requires an export permit from the country of origin, an import permit from the destination country, and in some cases a transit permit for intermediate stops. Our regulatory team works directly with national CITES Management Authorities to secure all permits, typically requiring 4-12 weeks of lead time depending on species classification (Appendix I, II, or III).
How do you ensure animal welfare for large zoo animals during air freight?
Each species receives a custom-built containment unit designed to IATA Live Animals Regulations standards. For large mammals (giraffes, rhinos, big cats), we use reinforced steel-frame crates with species-specific dimensions, ventilation, and padding. The cargo aircraft cabin is maintained at the optimal temperature range for the species. An experienced zoo veterinarian travels onboard to administer sedation if needed and monitor vital signs throughout the flight.
Can you transport aquatic animals or marine species by cargo aircraft?
Yes, we transport aquarium fish, dolphins, sea lions, and other marine species using specialized insulated transport tanks with battery-powered aeration, temperature control, and water quality monitoring. For large marine mammals, we use custom-designed stretcher systems with continuous water misting. A marine biologist or aquarium veterinarian accompanies the shipment to monitor water chemistry and animal welfare throughout.
