For West Coast or Greater West destinations, a turboprop (propeller turbine aircraft, suitable for short legs) or a light jet (4 to 8 seats) covers the distance comfortably. Note: Las Vegas' altitude of 665 meters and summer heat slightly reduce air density at takeoff, a point checked for light aircraft fully loaded in July-August. In other months, there are no particular constraints.

An empty leg to Las Vegas,
if the sky lines up.

An empty leg to or from Las Vegas is a repositioning flight already on the schedule: the aircraft needs to reach another base or its next mission. These trips are offered at a reduced fare, often around 30% to 75% off a classic charter, in exchange for less flexibility on dates and routing.

On every enquiry, we systematically scan the sky for these opportunities. The goal: whenever possible, a more competitive quote, on price as well as on the aircraft category available.

Understanding the Price

What Determines the Price of a Flight to Las Vegas

Las Vegas has one of the most intense private aviation markets in the United States. In November and January, KLAS regularly ranks among the tenth to fifteenth busiest US airports for monthly private flight volume. Two forces drive the price.

Event-driven demand concentrates the most significant peaks. The Consumer Electronics Show (CES, early January) and the Formula 1 Grand Prix (mid-November) saturate the KLAS ramp within hours of parking reservations opening: FBOs (Fixed-Base Operators, private terminals) then apply mandatory fuel minimums and increased ground fees. Some aircraft park at Henderson Executive, 17 km south, due to lack of space at KLAS. Anticipating six to eight weeks before an identified peak radically changes the quote.

The type of journey plays an equally important role. A light jet to Los Angeles and a heavy jet to New York are not in the same category. Summer heat (40°C in July-August in Las Vegas) does not affect prices but can reduce the payload capacity of light aircraft: we check the maximum takeoff weight before confirming, which may lead to choosing a higher category aircraft.

AIRPORT & PRIVATE SERVICES

KLAS or Henderson: Anticipate Before Landing

Harry Reid International (KLAS/LAS) is the main gateway to Las Vegas, approximately 8 km from the Strip. Its four concrete runways, including the main one (08L/26R) which is 4,522 meters long, accommodate aircraft from turboprops to ultra-long-range jets without restriction. The airport operates 24/7, but US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is only on-site from 8 AM to 8 PM local time. A reimbursable service procedure can be requested in advance for an arrival outside this window, with no guarantee of approval: an international night flight may remain without customs clearance.

The real constraint is parking saturation during peak event periods: during the Consumer Electronics Show (early January) and the Formula 1 Grand Prix (mid-November), spots are booked within hours of opening. The two private terminals have implemented permanent PPR (Prior Permission Required, parking authorization to be requested directly from the terminal). Henderson Executive (KHND), 17 km to the south, handles overflow for light aircraft.

Main runway 1,982 m (17R/35L), suitable for light jets and midsize. FBO open 0500-2230, no on-site customs. Ideal during KLAS saturation peaks or for light aircraft preferring to avoid main hub traffic.

Ground welcome

You land. Everything is already in place.

Upon Your Arrival

Both private terminals have lounges separate from the airline terminals. Atlantic Aviation is less than a block from the Strip when exiting its lounge. At Signature, the same logic applies: private lounge, on-site customs and immigration within the CBP window, car or limousine at the foot of the aircraft.

For an international arrival outside customs hours, the request is made in advance, via the CBP’s reimbursable service procedure.

Your PJC broker handles everything

Six weeks before CES or F1

Atlantic Aviation maintains continuous PPR, published in airport notices. During CES and the F1 Grand Prix, both private terminals impose mandatory fuel minimums and increased ground fees. Anticipate at least six weeks before an identified peak, more for a heavy aircraft that needs a hangar.

665 meters and 40°C in summer

At an altitude of 665 meters, with temperatures of 40°C in July or August, the less dense air slightly reduces the takeoff performance of light aircraft loaded to maximum weight. This is a routine check before confirmation, not a blocking issue. Heavy jets and ultra-long-range aircraft are not practically affected.

Anticipating Peaks: The Event Calendar That Saturates KLAS

Las Vegas is one of the few American cities where the business airport rivals major commercial hubs in intensity, not year-round, but during very specific events. In November and January, KLAS regularly ranks among the top ten to fifteen American airports for monthly private flight volume.

The rest of the year, traffic is high but parking spaces remain available. Knowing this calendar means knowing when to hit the booking button.

Late December
New Year's Eve Absolute peak of the year. Both KLAS FBOs reach total saturation several weeks in advance. Maximum ground fees and fuel minimums. Book as early as summer for a late December flight.
Early January
CES, Consumer Electronics Show The world's largest tech show is held annually in early January in Las Vegas (Convention Center and Venetian Expo). Tens of thousands of tech executives converge in 4 days. KLAS records one of its highest volumes of private flights of the year. Critical ramp parking, mandatory PPR, Henderson handles overflow.
March
March Madness + Sporting Events NCAA tournaments and major boxing or UFC fights at T-Mobile Arena generate sustained demand, especially on arrival Thursdays and Fridays.
May-June
Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Major electronic festival, three days at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Demand concentrated on arrival Wednesday-Thursday. FBOs fill up quickly for this long weekend format.
September-January
Raiders NFL Season (Allegiant Stadium) Home games (65,000 seats) generate regular peaks on Sunday afternoons. The Friday evening before an important game often sees an influx of jets from the East Coast.
Mid-November
Las Vegas Formula 1 Grand Prix The night race on the Strip (qualifying on Saturday, race on local Sunday, i.e., Saturday night to Sunday) is the event that generates the most visible bizav traffic. Arrival Thursday and Friday are critical. Henderson Executive absorbs KLAS overflow. Book parking three months in advance for this date.
Formalities and safety

Formalities, safety and private flight regulations in the United States

Private jet travelers to the United States must comply with FAA regulations for aviation operations, as well as entry requirements that vary by nationality, origin country, itinerary, and aircraft operation type. Consult official authorities for customs, immigration, and security formalities specific to your situation.
Experiences on the ground

Las Vegas offers a plethora of activities for every taste. Beyond the famous Strip casinos, visitors can attend spectacular shows featuring world-renowned artists, from Cirque du Soleil productions to superstar concerts.

The city also boasts exceptional gastronomy, with Michelin-starred restaurants led by internationally acclaimed chefs. For those seeking more unique experiences, helicopter tours over the Grand Canyon, sunrise hot air balloon rides, or visits to unique museums like the Mob Museum or the Neon Museum are popular options.

03

Is prior authorization required to land at KLAS during a major event?

Yes. Both FBOs at Harry Reid International have implemented permanent PPR (Prior Permission Required, meaning parking authorization must be confirmed directly with the FBO before the flight). This PPR is mandatory year-round and becomes critical during CES, the F1 Grand Prix, or New Year’s Eve: without confirmation, parking is not guaranteed. Contact your operator’s FBO as soon as the date is known, ideally six weeks in advance for a major event.

04

Are KLAS FBOs open at night for late departures?

Yes, Atlantic Aviation and Signature Aviation both operate 24/7. Las Vegas is a city that lives at night, and departures after 2 or 3 AM are not uncommon. The airport itself does not impose a curfew. Ground services (fuel, handling) are provided at all hours.

05

Can international arrivals be cleared at KLAS at night?

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is present at KLAS Monday through Sunday from 8 AM to 8 PM local time. For international arrivals outside this window, a paid service can be requested at least 24 hours in advance via the official CBP procedure, but its approval is not guaranteed. If landing must imperatively occur at night, plan arrival during the day or coordinate the off-hours service request as soon as the flight is booked.

06

Can Henderson Executive (KHND) replace KLAS for a light or midsize jet?

Yes, for light jets and most midsize aircraft. Henderson’s main runway measures 1,982 m, sufficient for aircraft in these categories. The FBO is open from 5 AM to 10:30 PM, but there is no on-site customs: Henderson is reserved for domestic flights or flights for which customs have already been cleared at KLAS. The airport is approximately 27 km from the Strip, a 30 to 40-minute drive. It is the natural alternative when KLAS is saturated.

07

Does summer heat affect jet performance departing from Las Vegas?

This is a routine check, not a blocking constraint. At 665 meters altitude and 40°C in July-August, lower air density slightly reduces takeoff performance for light aircraft loaded to full capacity. In practice, the maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) is checked before confirmation: if the aircraft is at its load limit, we may need to choose a higher category or schedule a takeoff at dawn when the temperature is lower. Heavy jets and ultra-long-range aircraft are unaffected.

08

Can I combine jet arrival with a helicopter excursion to the Grand Canyon?

Yes, this is one of the classic transfers from Las Vegas. Operators offer flights from heliports near major Strip hotels, with a rotation to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in less than an hour. You can coordinate private jet arrival at KLAS, transfer to the heliport, and the helicopter flight in the same logistical sequence, ideally in the morning before the heat sets in.
